The Flagship Niagara League announces a new Trimester Aboard voyaging program on the schooner Lettie G. Howard!
In Fall 2019, students around the world will have the opportunity to sail more than 3,000 nautical miles on Lettie G. Howard throughout the Great Lakes (starting in Erie, PA), through the St. Lawrence Seaway, down the Atlantic coast.
Journey more than 3,000 nautical miles, through 400 years of human history.
Lettie G. Howard is the last surviving wooden Fredonia style fishing schooners. Lettie G. Howard was built in Essex, Massachusetts. After Lettie G. Howard was built in 1893 she fished off the Northeast Atlantic and Gulf coasts. In 1989, Lettie G. Howard was declared a National Historic Landmark.
Lettie G. Howard is owned by the South Street Seaport Museum and is operated as a programmatic collaboration between the South Street Seaport Museum and the Flagship Niagara League. The Flagship Niagara League offers a variety of programs, so that anyone can experience the golden age of sail in an immersive environment.
